"'The International P.E.A.C.E. Benefit Compilation' is a double album first released in 1984 by 'R Radical Records' (run by MDC's Dave Dictor) in association with San Francisco punk magazine 'Maximumrocknroll'. The 'P.E.A.C.E.' in the title is a backronym for 'Peace, Energy, Action, Cooperation, Evolution'. The records feature 55 political hardcore punk bands from around the world, 30 from outside the United States, with front and back cover paintings by San Francisco artist Dana F. Smith. Maximumrocknroll's contribution was assembling the magazine-sized insert, which included topics on nuclear disarmament, imperialism, radiation, pollution, and demonstrations. Those sections preceded individual pages given to the bands for lyrics, graphics, statements, and contact. All of the profits from the release were slated for various anti-nuclear groups and activities worldwide."
