"Orgasm is the only album by the experimental band Cromagnon, recorded and released in 1969.
It was recorded at A-1 Sound Studio in the Upper West Side of New York City, and heavily utilized Phil Spector's 'wall of sound' technique (of which producer Brian Elliot was a fan). During production, band members brought in random people from the street to contribute to the session.
Member Sal Salgado recalled: 'The original concept of the album was to progress from different decades of music. Like, in '59 Elvis was shaking his pelvis and driving people - well, women - crazy. And adults as well, making them very upset. And then ten years later Hendrix was pouring lighter fluid on his guitar and getting a lot of great distortion out of his Marshall amps. And The Who was breaking up equipment. And then we were trying to carry it on to the next decade. We were going to say, maybe in 1979 there’ll be a group of people on stage that’ll be blowing through reeds of grass while someone is reciting some poetry, and another person is squirting water at a microphone on stage with a hose...'

"Formed from an earlier band called 'Fuck Authority', Exit Stance stole their name from a Poison Girls poster. At first, they were heavily influenced by The Clash, but not so much by The Sex Pistols, because they could relate to the Clash's lyrics and only found the Sex Pistols to be rock stars. It wasn't until drummer Mark was replaced by 16 year old Andy Williams that the band started to get their intense mid-pace sound (Andy was more influenced by Killing Joke). Their first rehearsal space was an art room in an old rectory. They recorded their set and attempted a small tour, but were eventually banned from venues for displaying disturbing art behind themselves while performing. After the tour, they quickly received a call from Colin of Conflict, who invited them down to 'Alaska Studios' to record a track for the 'Who? What? Why? When? Where?' compilation. They managed to record their song fast enough to record several more songs in the same session, which was ultimately released as the 'Crimes Against Humanity' EP. The group then prepared for a U.K. tour with Conflict, sharing cramped space in the same van. The 'While Backs Are Turned' MLP was released in 1985, so they booked another tour to promote it. Unfortunately, they became disillusioned while on this tour, tiring of the constant criticism from the audience. They began work on another record, only to split up in the middle of rehearsing for it."
